Nichols 1941 – Shoreline Changes on Plum Island, Massachusetts

Study by Robert Nichols on the shoreline changes in northern Plum Island and the formation of the northeastern “fork” of the island prior to installation of the jetties. The ideas about this part of the island growing as a “spit” were later discredited by FitzGerald et al. 1993.
